Chelsea

On August, 1, 2007 Kherson shipyard and “Concord Shipbuilding” launched the dry cargo vessel of RSD11 prj. with deadweight of 6000 tons. Vessel’s name is “CHELSEA-1”. “Black Sea shipping management” company is the customer. Project RSD11 is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

On July, 15, 2010 Kherson shipyard has put into operation the dry-cargo vessel “Chelsea – 7” of 005RSD06.01 prj. with deadweight of 6387 tons. This vessel is the fifth one of “Chelsea – 3” type that was built by Kherson shipyard and “Concord shipbuilding” firm for “Black Sea shipping management” company . Project 005RSD06.01 (modified 005RSD06) is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB). Designing and construction supervision is being carried out by Verkhnya-Volga branch of RRR (since 24.02.2022, we do not cooperate with the specified register). Vessel’s Russian River Register class (since 24.02.2022, we do not cooperate with the specified register) notation is of  M-SP 3.5, which allows to make international voyages through Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and others Seas. It completely pays off traditional commercial geography of river-sea going vessel’s operation, within boundaries of class restrictions.

005RSD06.01 prj. vessels belong to so-called “Volga-Don Max” type due to MEB internal classification, the principal particulars of which (overall length is of 137.52 m, breadth is of 16.5 m) are caused by dimensions of the Volga-Don navigation canal locks. Due to reasonable reduction of vessel’s class decrease of metal amount for hull was reached. That allowed to provide record deadweight for Volgo-Don Canal specific draught of 3.6 m.

A series is built by Kherson shipyard (hull) and “Concord Shipbuilding” company (vessel completing) for the Russian River Register (since 24.02.2022, we do not cooperate with the specified register) class of the  M-SP 3.5 with the Russian Maritime Register (since 24.02.2022, we do not cooperate with the specified register) of Shipping conventional documents. Modified 005RSD06.01 “Chelsea-3” prj. type vessel has successfully been operated since February, 17, 2006. Initial005RSD06 prj. “Chelsea-2” vessel has been in operation since February, 21, 2005. The vessel “Chelsea – 7” is optimized for work with draughts of 3.2-4.19 m. The maximum deadweight of 005RSD06.01 prj. with draught of 4.19 m (depth is of 5.5 m, coamings’ height is of 3.5 m) is of 6387 tons, with river draught of 3.60 m deadweight is of 4940 tons. The dry cargo ship is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2.2, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 6.1, 8, 9 classes. The vessel has four holds with total capacity of 9780 m³ that allows to transport cargoes with the big stowage factor volume without any loss of cargo capacity. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 6.5 t/m². Double bottom height is of 0.9 m, double sides breadth is of 2.15 – 1.69 m. Total ballast tanks capacity is of 3225 m³. Two main engines (medium speed) with capacity of 852 kw each provide cruising speed of 10 kn. Fixed-pitch propellers are in nozzles. Vessel’s “Chelsea – 7” keel (building number is of 08349) was laid down on 23.12.04.

She was launched on 06.03.08. She was put into operation on 15.07.10.
